The Third Conference on Best Practices in Turkish and Language Education Organized by Our Presidency Was Held in Ankara on 22-24 May 2024

Within the scope of the Project for The Development of Foreign Language Education (YADEG), supported by the Presidency of Strategy and Budget and carried out by The Board of Education, 93 papers were presented in five different halls over three days at the "Best Practices in Turkish and Language Education Conference" to showcase innovative and exploratory approaches in Turkish and language education. Additionally, poster presentations of 38 papers were displayed in the garden of Gazi University.

Gazi University, Turkish Academy of Sciences, Turkish Maarif Foundation, Yunus Emre Institute, and the relevant general directorates of Ministry of Education supported the conference, which was attended by approximately 1400 people. These stakeholders and contributing institutions set up stands and posters in the garden of Gazi University. Academics from various universities in our country, invited expert speakers, and teachers working in Ankara also attended the conference.

On the first day of the conference, panels on "Measurement and Evaluation in Language Education" were held. On the second day, the focus was on "The Use of Technology and Artificial Intelligence in Language Education", and on the last day, panels on "Turkey's Century Education Model and Language Education" were conducted. These panels were well-attended, with expert speakers sharing their studies, experiences, and knowledge.

The second day featured four workshops titled:

·       "I'm Writing, I'm Having Fun"

·       "The Use of D-AOBM (CEFR) Complementary Volume and Mediation Skills in the Teaching Process"

·       "Writing and Scoring Open-Ended Questions in Turkish Language Teaching"

·       "Turkish Language Exam in Four Skills"

·       "The Use of D-AOBM (CEFR) in Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language"

On 24 May, Mehmet Nezir GÜL, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Education, delivered the closing speech after the panel session. He expressed his satisfaction with the successful completion of the third conference in the field of Turkish and language education. He thanked the teachers and academicians who participated, made successful presentations, led guiding discussions, and suggested solutions to problems encountered in language education. He also wished them continued success.
